Review – A new mums experience of baby massage, and why it helped her confidence as a mother

As a new mummy, one of my biggest worries was that I was doing something wrong with my baby; especially if I was doing something differently to Joe Bloggs next door. Alexia, at Root sand Wings Parenting, works hard to let her mums know that ‘whatever (their) approach to parenting, baby massage is inclusive and benefits all babies. (And that) as the parent you are the expert on your baby and whichever method you choose is the right one for your baby and family!’ That message really spoke to me as a Mum and made me feel secure and comfortable when learning from her.

What is the benefit of Baby Massage, and does it only apply to babies?

Baby Massage is something that I have been teaching for the last 4 years, it’s a wonderful skill to learn and something that both you and your baby will benefit from, and not just in the ways you might think. I must admit when I first heard about baby massage I must admit I sniggered!…

Sun, Sea, Relax??

The sun is shining and holidays are here. I can’t wait to lay on a sun lounger by a pool, soaking up the sun and enjoy the calm. Who am I kidding? I’m a parent of two young children! Laying by a pool in the sun, in peace, seems as likely as flying to the moon on the next Virgin rocket.

New baby’s guide to the first few days of life

This is a tongue in cheek look at a baby giving advice to another baby, on what to expect in those first few weeks of life…
“So you have just arrived, well, welcome to the ‘world’!”
“What a funny old place this is? It seems so emotional. Mummy, ‘the soft one’, cries a lot, and the flat chested one, Daddy, doesn’t seem too sure what to do with the crier, or you”.
“If you are wondering about all the noise, don’t be scared. This is just what its like on the ‘outside’. You’re used to muffled sounds and hearing the sweet tones of mummy, and the base of daddy’s voice, then to suddenly hear everything is SO much louder, is a shock…

When the phrase, ‘I’m lucky’, should be banned

“My 11-month-old wakes so many times in the night! I’m exhausted and nothing I do works, any tips or anyone else experienced this?”
You will inevitably find a response like, “I’m lucky, we never had this problem, mine have always slept 7-7”
Why? Why say it? Why do people feel the need to share their ‘luck’ in this situation when another is desperately trying to find others that relate?

Juggling

It’s not a new concept. I am sure every parent across the country feels like a top circus act, the amount of juggling involved with raising a modern family.
The question is how do we know we are getting it right? When we choose one thing over another are we making the right choice? Is the grass ever really greener?

How dirty is too dirty?

This is not what you think… I’m talking about clothes. Since becoming a mum my standards, when it comes to dirty clothes, have certainly gone down. And not just a bit. Long gone are the days I would whip off an outfit at the mere hint of a mark (by whip off, I mean at…
